Website for psychologists: price, pages and example
A website for psychologists has to make the first step feel safe: who you are, what you help with, your waiting time, whether a subsidy is possible, and how to contact you. Here are the pages, the price, the rules and an example front page.
What should a website for psychologists do?
It should feel calm and answer clearly. Someone looking for a psychologist has often hesitated for a long time, and wants to know whether you’re the right one, what it costs and how long the wait is.
- A photo of you and a short, personal text about how you work.
- What you help with, such as anxiety, depression, stress and grief, and who you’re not the right person for.
- Your waiting time, kept current.
- Prices, and whether you have an agreement with public health insurance, so clients with a referral know whether they get a subsidy.
- Whether you’re an authorised psychologist, and whether you hold a specialist approval.
- A clear note that people shouldn’t write about their situation in the contact form.
Which pages does the website need?
Start with 5 pages. That’s enough for a customer to find the answer and get in touch, and you can always add more:
- Home: who you are, what you help with, and your waiting time.
- What I help with: the problems you work with, and how a course of sessions usually goes.
- Prices and subsidy: price per session, cancellations, referrals and health insurance.
- About me: training, authorisation, specialist approval and methods.
- Contact and booking: phone, address, a booking link and how to write to you securely.
How much does a website for psychologists cost?
A website for psychologists typically costs DKK 15,000–40,000 to have made by a freelancer and DKK 45,000–115,000 by a web agency, excluding VAT. Running costs come on top every year. Over three years, that adds up to DKK 32,000–99,000 with a freelancer and DKK 75,000–229,000 with an agency. Build it yourself in Striive and there’s no build fee: three years cost DKK 9,000–19,500.
| Freelancer | Web agency | Striive (you build it) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Build | DKK 15,000–40,000 | DKK 45,000–115,000 | No build fee |
| Running per year, from year 2 | DKK 5,500–19,500 | DKK 10,000–38,000 | DKK 3,000–7,000 |
| First year in total | DKK 20,000–60,000 | DKK 55,000–153,000 | DKK 2,500–6,500 |
| Three years in total | DKK 32,000–99,000 | DKK 75,000–229,000 | DKK 9,000–19,500 |
All amounts exclude VAT and come from our website cost calculator, built on Danish hourly rates: about DKK 500–900 an hour for freelancers and DKK 900–1,400 for agencies. Running costs are hosting, a domain, licences and a service agreement. Striive is DKK 99 a month incl. VAT for the first 4 months, then DKK 249 a month incl. VAT, plus your domain. Online booking and online payments aren’t in Striive yet, so Striive’s figures include a separate booking or shop tool until they arrive.
The figure that changes most often on a psychologist’s website is the waiting time. If a web designer has to change it, each change often costs an hour’s work at DKK 500–1,000 excl. VAT, so it doesn’t get changed, and clients call in vain. If you can type “waiting time: about 3 weeks” yourself in a minute, it’s always right.
What do customers search for when they need a psychologist?
Customers type what they need and where they live. Typical searches (in Danish, as they’re typed):
- psykolog [town]
- psykolog [town] kort ventetid
- psykolog med ydernummer [town]
- psykolog angst [town]
- parterapi psykolog [town]
- psykolog pris uden henvisning
Use the same words on your pages: the trade, the services and the towns and areas you cover. Give each page a title and a description that say it, and check how it looks in Google with our Google preview. More in how to get found on Google.
What makes customers choose you?
Trust. The customer doesn’t know you yet, so the website has to show you’re good at what you do:
- “Authorised psychologist” (autoriseret psykolog) and your full name, written clearly.
- Membership of the Danish Psychological Association (Dansk Psykolog Forening) and specialist approvals, if you have them.
- A text in your own voice, not a list of methods.
- A waiting time that’s accurate.
- Clear rules on cancellations and payment that clients can read before they book.
What rules apply to a website for psychologists?
The same as for every business, and a few for your trade. Every business must show its name, address, email and CVR number on its website (Danish E-commerce Act §7), have a privacy notice when it collects personal data through, say, a contact form, and get consent with a cookie banner before setting cookies for analytics or marketing. Prices for consumers must include VAT. The full list is in website requirements for businesses.
- The title “autoriseret psykolog” (authorised psychologist) is protected and requires authorisation from the Danish Board of Psychologists (Psykolognævnet). Only use it if you hold it.
- Marketing of treatment must be factual and not misleading. Check which rules apply to marketing your treatment with Psykolognævnet and the Danish Patient Safety Authority (Styrelsen for Patientsikkerhed).
- Be very careful with client testimonials. You’re bound by confidentiality, and even an anonymous testimonial can reveal who has seen you.
- Information about mental health is sensitive personal data. Never ask for it in an ordinary contact form; use secure email or the messaging function in your journal system.
What could the front page look like?
Here’s how the top of the front page could read. The headline says what you do and where; the text under it says why to pick you and what to do next:
“Authorised psychologist in Viborg. Current waiting time: about three weeks.”
I help adults with anxiety, stress and grief, at a calm pace and with time to talk about what’s on your mind. With a referral from your GP, you can get a subsidy. Book a first session online, or call 12 34 56 78.
How do you make a website for psychologists with Striive?
You build it yourself, with AI to help. Plan on 9–19 hours for a site like this:
- Tell Striive about your business: what you do, where, and how customers reach you. Have an old website? Type its address, and Striive builds from it.
- The AI website builder builds your front page and up to four more pages, with text about what you actually do.
- Edit texts, prices and photos right on the page in the visual editor, or tell the AI assistant what to change.
- Add a contact form, and link to the booking system you use today. Online booking right in Striive is on the way.
- Connect your own domain, check the site on your phone, and publish.
Which mistakes should you avoid?
These turn up again and again on websites for psychologists:
- The waiting time is out of date, or not there at all.
- The contact form asks clients to say what they need help with.
- The text lists types of therapy but doesn’t say who you help.
- No photo of you. Clients want to see who they’ll be talking to.
- Prices and cancellation rules are missing, so clients only hear about them at the first session.
Frequently asked questions
Be very careful. You’re bound by confidentiality, and even anonymous testimonials can reveal a client. Let your own text about how you work do the job instead.
Use the contact form for practical things, like asking for an appointment. If clients need to tell you about their situation, point them to secure email or the messaging function in your journal system, and say so by the form.
Yourself in Striive: about 9–19 hours, spread over a couple of days, if your texts and photos are ready. With a freelancer or an agency, plan on 2–6 weeks, because design, texts and corrections go back and forth.
Yes. In Striive you edit texts, prices and photos right on the page, or tell the AI assistant what to change. You don’t pay a web designer for every change.
