Get a website made: price, process and timeline in 2026
To get a website made with five pages costs DKK 12,000–30,000 with a freelancer and DKK 35,000–90,000 with a web agency, excluding VAT, and usually takes 2–6 weeks. The third way is to let AI make it and adjust it yourself. That takes days, not weeks. Whichever way you choose, you supply the texts, photos and logo.
What are the ways to get a website made?
There are three: a freelancer, a web agency, or an AI website builder, where AI makes the first version and you adjust it. They differ most on price, time and who makes changes afterwards:
| Freelancer | Web agency | AI website builder (Striive) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Build, excl. VAT | DKK 12,000–30,000 | DKK 35,000–90,000 | No build fee |
| Time to a finished site | 2–6 weeks | 2–6 weeks, longer for big projects | A few days |
| Your own effort | Brief, material and feedback | Meetings, material and approvals | Answers, material and 8–16 hours of adjustments |
| Changes afterwards | The freelancer, usually by the hour | The agency, under a service agreement | You, in a visual editor |
Striive is DKK 99 a month incl. VAT for the first 4 months, then DKK 249 a month incl. VAT, plus your domain. The first two routes are covered in web agency and freelance web designer.
What does it cost to get a website made with copywriting?
With texts written by a professional, getting a five-page website made costs DKK 17,000–43,000 with a freelancer and DKK 45,000–113,000 with an agency. Over three years that becomes DKK 31,000–89,000 and DKK 72,000–215,000, because running costs come on top every year.
| Freelancer | Web agency | Striive (you build it) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Build | DKK 17,000–43,000 | DKK 45,000–113,000 | No build fee |
| Running per year, from year 2 | DKK 4,500–15,500 | DKK 9,000–34,000 | DKK 2,000–3,000 |
| First year in total | DKK 21,000–58,000 | DKK 54,000–147,000 | DKK 1,500–2,500 |
| Three years in total | DKK 31,000–89,000 | DKK 72,000–215,000 | DKK 5,500–7,500 |
All amounts exclude VAT and come from our website cost calculator, built on Danish hourly rates: about DKK 500–900 an hour for freelancers and DKK 900–1,400 for agencies. Running costs are hosting, a domain, licences and a service agreement. Striive is DKK 99 a month incl. VAT for the first 4 months, then DKK 249 a month incl. VAT, plus your domain.
How does getting a website made work, step by step?
With a freelancer or an agency it almost always goes like this:
- Write down what the website must do: which pages, which customers and what they should do.
- Get two or three quotes on the same description, so you can compare.
- Sign an agreement with a fixed price, ownership and handover of logins.
- Supply the material: texts or notes, photos, a logo and contact details.
- Approve a design proposal, and give all your feedback at once in each revision round.
- Check the finished website on your own phone before it goes live.
- Connect the domain, and agree who handles updates afterwards.
How long does it take to get a website made?
It usually takes 2–6 weeks with a freelancer or an agency, and a few days if you build it yourself with AI. The building itself is rarely what takes the time. It’s the waiting between steps. On a website builder you spend 8–16 hours on five pages, and the time is yours to spread out.
- Texts that haven’t been written are the most common delay.
- Photos that have to be taken or dug out.
- Feedback that arrives in small pieces instead of all at once.
- The domain, if nobody knows who has the login.
What must you supply, whoever makes the website?
You supply everything only you know about your business. No freelancer, agency or AI can make it up:
- Texts, or at least notes on your services and why customers choose you.
- Photos of your own work, your premises and yourself. Phone photos in daylight are fine.
- Your logo, ideally as a file with a transparent background.
- Contact details, address, CVR number, opening hours and prices.
- The login for your domain, if you already have one.
If you already have a website, most of this is on it. Striive can then fetch the text, photos, prices and opening hours with site import.
Can you get a website made by AI?
Yes. In Striive you answer a few questions about your business or give the address of your current website, and AI builds a front page and up to four more pages with text about you. You go through the pages, fix what isn’t right, and publish. It’s a middle way: the work gets done as with a freelancer, but you hold the keys.
