Your own domain for your website. HTTPS included.
Already own yourbusiness.dk? Connect it to your Striive website by adding two DNS records at your domain provider. Striive checks them for you, and the HTTPS certificate is sorted automatically.
DNS, certificates and a padlock that won’t appear.
You bought the domain years ago from a Danish registrar, and now every guide talks about A records, CNAMEs, nameservers and SSL certificates. One wrong step, and the browser shows “not secure” to every visitor.
What does connecting a domain mean?
A domain is your address, like yourbusiness.dk. You rent it from a domain provider, and its DNS settings say where your website lives.
Connecting the domain means pointing it at Striive. The domain stays with your provider. You only change where it points.
Start on a Striive address
Every site starts on its own Striive address. You can build and publish before you touch your domain, and your current website stays as it is until you’re ready.
The first time you publish without a domain of your own, Striive asks whether you want to connect one. You can also just publish and do it later.
How to connect your own domain
It takes about ten minutes of your time, plus a short wait:
- Open Settings → Publishing in your admin (the admin is in English) and enter your domain on the Domains card.
- Striive shows two DNS records, each with a copy button: a TXT record that proves the domain is yours, and an A record that points it at Striive.
- Log in at your domain provider (Simply, One.com, GoDaddy or wherever you bought it) and add both records. Set the TTL as low as your provider allows, at most 600 seconds.
- Striive checks the records every minute. It usually takes a few minutes, at most an hour, before the domain shows as verified.
- Make the domain primary. It becomes your website’s main address, and visitors to the Striive address are sent on to it.
HTTPS without the paperwork
Striive issues the HTTPS certificate for your domain automatically and keeps it renewed. Visitors see the padlock. You never buy or upload an SSL certificate.
What if the DNS changes later?
Striive keeps an eye on your domain. If it stops pointing at Striive, the Domains card shows a warning. Your website keeps answering on the domain for three days, so a short hiccup at your provider doesn’t take it down. If the records still aren’t fixed after three days, the domain has to be verified again.
The TXT record is only needed for the first check. You can delete it once the domain is verified.
What stays the same
Connecting a domain changes where your website lives. Nothing else:
- The domain stays with your provider, and you keep paying for it there.
- Your email records aren’t touched, so your email works as before.
- The admin doesn’t move. You keep editing at Striive’s app address, and the Domains card shows your direct link.
