Website prices in Denmark 2026: freelancer, agency or DIY

Website prices in Denmark in 2026 are typically DKK 12,000–30,000 for five pages from a freelancer and DKK 35,000–90,000 from a web agency, excluding VAT, plus running costs every year. If you build it yourself on a website builder there is no build fee, and you only pay the subscription and your domain. Here are the prices by type of website, add-on, hourly rate and running costs, and what the builders charge.

What does a website cost by type in 2026?

An ordinary five-page website costs DKK 12,000–30,000 to have made by a freelancer and DKK 35,000–90,000 by a web agency. Everything you add moves the price, and a web shop moves it most. Here is the build price for the usual websites:

Ten pagesDKK 17,000–43,000DKK 47,000–120,000DKK 1,500–2,500

All amounts exclude VAT and come from the model behind our website cost calculator. The freelancer’s figures assume a template or theme, the agency’s a custom design. Striive’s figures are the subscription and your domain for the first year, with no build fee. Booking and online payments aren’t in Striive yet, so for booking and a web shop Striive’s figures include a separate tool.

What does a web designer or a web agency charge an hour?

A freelancer or web designer usually charges DKK 500–900 an hour and a web agency DKK 900–1,400, excluding VAT. The agency costs more per hour because more people work on the job: a project manager, a designer and a developer. In return it can take on work one person can’t, like integrations and several languages.

Always ask for a fixed price rather than an estimate of hours. More on both under freelance web designer and web agency.

What do add-ons like a blog, booking, a web shop and copywriting cost?

They come on top of the price for five pages, and at an agency each add-on costs about two to three times what it does from a freelancer. A web shop costs most, because products, payments, shipping and terms of sale need setting up, and it also costs most to run. Booking and a web shop carry a yearly running cost on top, usually for a booking tool or a payment solution.

What does a website cost over three years with running costs?

Over three years a small website costs DKK 26,000–77,000 with a freelancer, DKK 62,000–192,000 with an agency and DKK 5,500–7,500 on Striive. Running costs are a large share: hosting, a domain, licences and a service agreement that keeps WordPress up to date. With a web shop the three-year figure grows to DKK 45,000–132,000 with a freelancer.

All amounts exclude VAT and come from our website cost calculator, built on Danish hourly rates: about DKK 500–900 an hour for freelancers and DKK 900–1,400 for agencies. Running costs are hosting, a domain, licences and a service agreement. Striive is DKK 99 a month incl. VAT for the first 4 months, then DKK 249 a month incl. VAT, plus your domain.

What do the website builders cost?

Website builders charge a fixed amount a month or a year, with no build fee, and you build it yourself. Intro offers are common, so look at the price after the first year:

What makes a website expensive?

Five things drive the price up, and you control most of them:

  • A custom design instead of a theme or template. It’s the biggest difference between a freelancer and an agency.
  • A web shop, with products, payments, shipping and terms of sale.
  • Texts someone else has to write. If you write them yourself, or let AI write the draft, you save that line.
  • Integrations with other systems and several languages, which usually take an agency.
  • Changes afterwards, if you can’t make them yourself and pay by the hour.

How do you compare two quotes for a website?

Line the quotes up the same way before you look at the price:

  1. Write a list of pages and features, and send the same list to everyone.
  2. Ask for a fixed price in writing, and whether it’s excluding or including VAT.
  3. Ask for the yearly running costs separately: hosting, domain, licences and service agreement.
  4. Add up the build and three years of running costs for each quote.
  5. Check who owns the domain and the content, and what a change costs afterwards.

For a figure for your own website, the website cost calculator gives you an estimate in a minute. Considering a fixed monthly price instead? See website subscription.

From a freelancer, DKK 15,000–40,000 excluding VAT for five pages with booking, plus a booking tool every year. All the options are under website with booking.

Because you pay for hours, and the number of hours depends on the design, the number of pages and the add-ons. A theme adapted to you takes days; a custom design with testing and meetings takes weeks.
